‘Messengers’ on Linux

Now I’m using Ubuntu for almost 2 months, I played around a bit more with two well know ‘messenger’ programs. aMSN and Pidgin (formerly known as GAIM).

I compiled & installed both from sources without problems and major efforts, and with aMSN I was able to use my own webcam and view others webcams.

Pidgin doesn’t crashed so far at all, compared to the *old* GAIM which did it, and it was quite annoying.

The lack of voice chat support in aMSN, and the lack of video/voice support in Pidgin are still major inconvenience’s, and at this level Linux loses the battle with Wind0ze.

So let’s wait until Pidgin 3.0

Ubuntu … Ermmm World Domination

Ubuntu taking over Vista? Well I don’t want to open a war between the camps but Ubuntu rocks in many many ways. It is very user friendly with the n00b users, but at the same time power users can have the full power of a Linux system.

This is a killer combination in my opinion. Ubuntu is proof that quality Open Source Software Exists!!! Enough chit-chat, here are some videos proof of what I am talking about. LoL!
